💚 August is Gastroparesis Awareness Month — Let’s Talk Gut Health and Reproductive Disorders

Gastroparesis Awareness Month
Peach Corps Highlights the Overlap Between Gut and Reproductive Health

August marks Gastroparesis Awareness Month, a time to bring visibility to a debilitating gastrointestinal condition that often goes undiagnosed or misunderstood especially among those already navigating complex reproductive health challenges like endometriosis, PCOS, and adenomyosis.

At Peach Corps, we’re raising awareness about the lesser-known connections between chronic pelvic disorders and digestive health, because understanding these overlaps is critical to improving care, treatment, and quality of life for those affected.

🧠 What is Gastroparesis?

Gastroparesis is a condition that affects the stomach muscles and prevents proper stomach emptying. This delayed digestion can cause:

  • Chronic nausea and vomiting
  • Bloating and abdominal pain
  • Malnutrition and weight loss
  • Early satiety (feeling full quickly)

🔄 The Overlap: Why Reproductive Health Patients Should Pay Attention

Research and patient experiences have shown growing evidence of gastrointestinal symptoms in individuals with reproductive disorders often misattributed or ignored.

Endometriosis lesions can grow on the bowel or stomach lining, mimicking or aggravating GI conditions.

PCOS is linked to insulin resistance, which can slow digestion and affect gut motility.

Adenomyosis may lead to systemic inflammation, disrupting both hormonal and digestive balance.

In many cases, patients with these conditions experience symptoms of gastroparesis without getting proper GI evaluation, delaying effective care.

🧘♀️ Whole-Body Health: A Holistic Approach

At Peach Corps, we believe in treating the whole person, not just isolated symptoms. This includes:

  • Advocating for multidisciplinary care teams
  • Educating patients and providers on the gut-repro connection
  • Encouraging holistic approaches like dietary therapy, gut-friendly movement, and stress reduction

💛 Help Us Keep the Conversation Going

We need your support to expand our education, advocacy, and support initiatives for individuals living with overlapping conditions.

Let’s Make the Invisible Visible

This August let’s uplift the voices of those silently suffering from gastroparesis, especially when their pain intersects with reproductive health struggles. Together, we can push for better research, earlier diagnosis, and compassionate care.
