October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month — Let’s Talk About Hormones, Health &  Hope

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Peach Corps Highlights the Connection Between Reproductive Health and Breast Health

Every October, we join millions worldwide in honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to celebrate survivors, support those in treatment, and raise awareness about prevention  and early detection.

At Peach Corps, our mission extends beyond awareness. We aim to educate and empower  individuals living with endometriosis, PCOS, and adenomyosis, who may face unique  hormonal and reproductive health challenges that can also influence breast health.

Understanding the Connection: Hormones & Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is often hormone-sensitive, meaning its growth can be influenced by levels of  estrogen and progesterone in the body. Conditions such as endometriosis, PCOS, and  adenomyosis all involve hormonal imbalances that can affect not only reproductive health  but potentially breast health as well.

Here’s what research and experience tell us:

Endometriosis: Associated with prolonged estrogen exposure, which may slightly  increase the risk of hormone-dependent cancers like breast or ovarian cancer. • PCOS: Characterized by high levels of androgens and insulin resistance, PCOS can  lead to metabolic disturbances that may impact long-term breast health. • Adenomyosis: This estrogen-driven condition can cause chronic inflammation, which  is increasingly recognized as a contributing factor in many types of cancer.

The key takeaway: Hormone balance, regular screenings, and early detection matters.  Early Detection Saves Lives

Early detection is one of the most powerful tools against breast cancer.

Peach Corps encourages everyone to:

 Perform monthly self-breast checks

Schedule annual mammograms (especially if you’re over 40 or have a family history)  Talk to your doctor about your hormone health and risk factors

Prioritize holistic care including nutrition, stress management, and regular movement Remember: Prevention and awareness are acts of empowerment.
