September is Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month — Let’s Talk Risk, Resilience & Reproductive Health.
Every September, we mark Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month, a time to increase awareness, support early detection, and improve care for those affected by cancers of the reproductive system.
At Peach Corps, we’re drawing attention to how chronic conditions like endometriosis, PCOS, and adenomyosis not only impact daily life, but also intersect with gynecological cancer risks. Raising awareness and advocating for early action can save lives.
Gynecological Cancers: What to Know
Gynecological cancers include:
• Ovarian cancer
• Endometrial (uterine) cancer
• Cervical cancer
• Vaginal & vulvar cancers
Warning signs can include pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, bloating, and changes in menstrual cycles, symptoms that often overlap with endometriosis, PCOS, and adenomyosis.
The Overlap with Endo, PCOS & Adeno
Endometriosis: While not cancer, endometriosis can mimic or mask symptoms of ovarian and uterine cancers. Some research suggests a slightly elevated risk of certain gynecological cancers in those with long-term endometriosis.
PCOS: Linked with chronic hormonal imbalances and irregular cycles, PCOS is associated with a higher lifetime risk of endometrial (uterine) cancer.
Adenomyosis: Though research is still evolving, adenomyosis has been connected to increased inflammation and may complicate early detection of uterine cancers.
Why Awareness Matters
Too often, symptoms are dismissed or normalized, especially in marginalized communities. This can delay diagnosis and treatment of gynecological cancers. Awareness campaigns like this one aim to:
Encourage routine screenings like Pap smears and ultrasounds Empower individuals to advocate for themselves when symptoms are ignored
Push for more research funding into reproductive health and cancer links Build community support for those navigating chronic conditions and cancer fears
With your help, Peach Corps can continue to:
Host educational workshops on reproductive cancers
Provide safe spaces for those navigating chronic gynecological pain Expand outreach to communities most affected by disparities in care

Together, We Break the Silence
This Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month let’s shine a light on the connections between chronic gynecological conditions and cancer risk. Because when we raise awareness, we raise hope.
